• Wildomar Cemetery District Acquires Additional Land

A bit of FYI about the Wildomar Cemetery Board first.

The Wildomar Cemetery District Board is made up of the City Council Members as trustees, and City Manager Gary Nordquist as General Manager.

The City Council took over the duties of the board back in 2011.

Among the many reasons for it, the way I figure itthe cranks in town were mucking up the way it had been run, and the council needed to put a stop to it.

But I've been told that isn't quite right. D'oh!

The reason I was given for the move was that it was just a better idea to have it under city control.

For those that want a contemporaneous write up about the switch, here's a link to a Press Enterprise article from November 2011.
The meetings begin with the city clerk reading this statement:
In accordance with Government Code Section 54952.3, I, Debbie A. Lee, City of Wildomar City Clerk, do hereby declare that the Board of Trustees will receive no compensation or stipend for the convening of the following regular meeting of the Wildomar Cemetery District.
The meetings come after the regular city council meetings and are usually very short. They consist of roll call, approval of the agenda, which is usually next to nothing, and generally they're over in about three to five minutes — even if there is a public comment.

The latest meeting had the Cemetery District approve the purchase of a 3.27 acre parcel for $375,000. See the graphic for its precise location.
The blue line denotes the existing cemetery land, the red area is the 3.27 acre parcel.
This was a good move.

Even if people stop dying, or stop getting buried, converting cash into an asset such as this is brilliant. I just wish it could have been the city, and not just the Cemetery District to have done this.

I asked Councilmember Bridgette Moore for her take on the new purchse.
The Cemetery board is planning for the future of the cemetery and this land acquisition is beneficial.

"One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important."

– Bertrand Russell

Based on Mr. Russel's observations, Wildomar Rap will be 'nervous breakdown free' for the foreseeable future.
