From the CEQA docs

III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The proposed project includes the construction of a 38-foot tall (at its highest point)), two-story indoor shooting range/academy; the first floor would be 29,286 square feet and the second floor would be 5,503 square feet totaling to 34,789 square feet.
Artist's rendering. Not sure from which angle.
The first floor of the building would include offices, training and range areas, a lobby, gun smith and storage, shipping and receiving, and the second floor would include classrooms, storage, employee restrooms and lounge area, and VIP lounge and storage. Additionally, a total of 77 parking spaces, including 4 ADA spaces and 1 van accessible space will be provided.

The proposed building would be located at the southern boundary of the project site. Moreover, the existing vacant residence and associated structures would be demolished. Furthermore, 7,405 square feet of perimeter landscaping would be provided, and a biofiltration basin would be constructed on the northwest corner of the site to treat the required water quality volume for the project site.

Figure 4, Site Plan, shows a site plan of the proposed improvements. The proposed development plans, including architectural renderings and elevations, are provided in Appendix 1. Upon completion, the project would operate between 9 AM and 10 PM daily, seven days a week.
Buildings in the middle, parking around the perimeter.
Roadway Access and Parking Lot

The proposed project would provide two vehicular access points to the site, one driveway along Bundy Canyon Road and another driveway at the southwest corner of the site along Mission Trail. The driveway on Mission Trail would be a right-in/right-out only access driveway.

Additionally, Bundy Canyon Road would be downgraded from six (6) lanes (6) to four (4) lanes along the street frontage of the site. The City Traffic engineer evaluated long-term traffic needs along this road segment and has determined through the traffic study conclusions that a reduction to four (4) lanes is justified.

Therefore, a General Plan Amendment (GPA) to the Circulation Element is required to accommodate change.to accommodate this change.
Artist's rendering. Not sure from which angle.
The parking for the proposed project would be along the northern, eastern, and western boundaries of the site, and 77 parking spaces, including 4 ADA spaces and 1 van space would be provided.

    1. I haven't heard any time lines yet, but I look forward to the ground breaking when that time comes.

  3. This would be a great project for Wildomar. And a perfect business match for our citizenry, not to mention, five minutes from my house.

    1. I'm in favor of it. I can see it bringing in people from all around and it would be a good hub for other small businesses in the area.

  5. It’s great to see more project to bring jobs to Wildomar. It looks like there is an empty lot just below where the project is so just curious why the need to expand the property and reduce roadway.

    1. I'd heard whispers about a shooting range before, but this was the first official word I heard about it. You ask a good question, but I don't have that answer. It's a good one to ask of Planning Director Matt Bassi.

  7. This area and local economy can really use businesses that fit the demographic that is here not the demographic the rest of California wants this part of the state to be. Shooting ranges have long lines and people leave because it is too crowded which is a pretty clear sign there is a demand. Who introduced this idea I want to make sure they get reelected!

  8. Not for me. Don't want a gun and don't need a gun. And don't need a shooting range in my neighborhood.

    1. To each his own; how many of the new fast food joints have you been opposed to? The city is/continues to be ran on financial fumes. I have my opinions on religion, politics, and our 2nd Amendment rights; preference is personal. I'm not telling anyone they shouldn't be allowed to build a place of worship and that I don't need another church to dislike in the neighborhood. It's called tolerance or pack out like hoards of ancestors that didn't care for their current place of residence, and emigrate. No offense intended, just a few sentences that may not be congruent with many other's views.

    2. C4C,
You're not one of those types of people that force people do live by your personal code, are you? See, we're in America, and we cherish liberty. That means freedom to make our own choices, provided they are within the law. As it happens, guns are one of the few things that are specifically mentioned in the US Constitution, with their own amendment no less.

  9. That's great that you don't want a gun. But there are a lot of people in this area that do have guns. And no place to shoot them. I think it's a great idea. It being an indoor shooting range means you probably won't hear anything.

  10. I sure hope this happens, no where to soot around here, have to drive down to San Marcos 45 minutes away.
Let's make it happen, sooner, than much later.

  11. This would be a great thing to have. There isn’t anywhere close to be able to go practice. I’m all for it!

  12. you think you don't need a gun ! just remember this the thought that you may own a gun or your neighbor may own one keeps the criminal element from just kicking in you door rapeing the women in you house and robbing you beating you and possibly killing everyone in the house violence knows no boundry's

  13. I agree the community needs a place to shoot and more training too :) But why are they building it right next to the High School? Plenty of other places it could go within the city.

    1. What difference does it make if it's near EHS? Kids would probably only be allowed inside with adults. Oh and back when I was in school, kids had gun racks in their trucks parked in the school lots and went out to hunt rabbits after school. No one back in my day felt the need to shoot up their school. Kids need to be taught how to use a gun and parents should be locking up their guns at home. The range would be more secure than most homes.

    2. I don't mean to be splitting any hairs here, but it's not "right next to the high school". The back side of the campus is up the street by about a quarter of a mile.

  14. I personally don't have a gun and don't like guns but I wouldn't mind having that here. My problem is "reducing" the lanes. If anything, I would like to see a dedicated right turn lane from Mission Trail southbound to Bundy Canyon eastbound. Traffic is only going to get busier in the coming years not less and it is just stupid to reduce lanes anywhere. Just my opinion. Obviously I don't have all the "inside" information and studies but still, I have never seen traffic get less especially when we are trying to "grow".

    1. I recently spoke with city staff about this. There is a lot of plans in Lake Elsinore that could turn the corridor into a heavily traveled (by 18 wheelers). It's a long term plan that will be for the better of Wildomar, and the traffic study didn't warrant the upgrade to 6 lanes of the pre-city plan.

    2. I agree that there shouldn't be a reduction of lanes...and if anything they should add a dedicated right turn lane on to Bundy Canyon eastbound.
Also, I would prefer if this shooting range wasn't sitting right out on the corner, but be further into the plot of land with other establishments (like a mini mall I guess, but better than what's across the street, that looks vacant most of the time). It would be nice if they had a grocery store (like a Sprouts, since we already have a Stater Bros.)

  15. Please build it to handle my Casull 454. Some indoor ranges won't let me shoot it.

  16. Sounds great to me! I try to shoot once per month but the distance to get to the range makes me not go all too often, this would be 5 minutes away, please build it!
